I met a quirky gentleman originally from Glasgow now living with his beautiful family in Tasmania. A Glasmanian I think he called himself - at the Harvest Market in Launceston. What a pleasure 🙏 ☺️ what a product.

The passion he has for his chosen craft shines through. This is Gin and Whisky is made with dedication and professionalism.

I am looking forward to taking my family and friends to visit the hub of his creativity.

Truly delicious Whisky! We were lucky enough to visit at the time Robbie was doing an intricate part of his distilling and he kindly walked us through the process. He is clearly passionate about distilling which creates delicious whisky which is streets ahead of the whiskies we tasted at other larger distilleries. They also have sweet llamas on their farm which we got to feed 🦙

A Hidden Gem on the Derwent – A Must-Visit for Whisky Lovers

Attending the launch of Derwent Distillery’s first releases was truly something special. Nestled along the Derwent River in Dromedary, this beautifully restored distillery feels like stepping into a piece of Tasmania’s whisky history—with a modern, sustainable twist.

From the moment you arrive, the riverside views, the warm hospitality of Emma and Robbie, and the attention to detail in every part of the distillery experience are clear. The setting is stunning, but it’s the passion behind the spirit that truly stands out. Their focus on sustainability—from recycled glass bottles to compostable closures—shows real care for both craft and community.

We sampled the Tawny and Botrytis Cask single malts, and both were exceptional—complex, rich, and beautifully balanced. The Botrytis in particular was unlike anything I’ve tasted before.

I can't wait to visit again and explore Derwent Distillery.

Excellent little Distillery with a great outlook over the Derwent River. Robbie and Emma were fantastic hosts telling us all about the processes used. Then we had some fantastic whisky to top off a great afternoon. Definitely hoping to get back there again!

As a proud Tasmanian, I wanted to share this delicious gin as part of a special gift to a friend up here in Queensland. Emma not only answered my question in lightening speed, but had my order to the post office within 2 hours. Amazing gin & equally as amazing customer service. Thank you Emma (& Robbie) for both!

The last sanctuary is one of my favourite Gins. I also tried their Elder Flower Liqueur in a cocktail recently and it was delicious! I love that it is a small family-run business & they even forage for the botanicals used within their products where the distillery is located. Highly recommend.

Now, up front - I have not yet visited this distillery but I have met Robbie & Emma, ever so briefly at another venue, where I was impressed by his pitch & a couple of his products, all of which I recommend.
A return trip is being planned & further feedback to come 👍🥃

Amazing and knowledgeable service! They have Alpacas and as a bonus they let us feed them. Such a great experience! Must go and support this local distillery!
